CBR Group Guide: Hebrews 2
WEEK 2
Pray
Read Hebrews 2
Stuff you should know:
The author says that God didn’t destine the authority of the world to go to angels, but rather to human beings who are created in his image. He shows this through quoting Psalm 8 and then points to Jesus as the one who really fulfills this where we have failed (2:8-9).
-”Perfection” here (v. 10) does not mean that he was less-than perfect before. It simply means that Jesus became what he was made to be, our perfect savior and high priest.
Stuff you should see:
Main point: We can never forget Jesus because through Jesus we become what we were created for and through Jesus we have someone who understands our weakness.
ACTS Prayer (Pray through your pen and conversation)
Adoration: Praise the Father for His attributes and actions
Confession: Confess your sinfulness and acknowledge your sins
Thanksgiving: Thank Jesus for his Salvation (past, present, future)
Supplication: Ask the Spirit to transform you in particular ways
Questions for Application:
The author warns that we must not “drift away” from Jesus (2:1). What specific times and circumstances are you tempted to “drift away” from Jesus and why?
Jesus is “able to help those who are being tempted” (2:18) because he was tempted. What are the ways you are tempted every day? How does knowing Jesus was tempted help you overcome that temptation?
