CBR Group Guide: Week 10
WEEK 10
Pray
Read Hebrews 10
Stuff you should know:
Verses 1-4 confirm that the Old Testament sacrifices were only a “shadow” of what was to come. They were never meant to save but only to point to Christ who can and does save.
Verse 26 does not mean there is no forgiveness for repeated sins. Instead, the idea is continuous and “deliberately” sinning which reflects that your heart has not been truly redeemed. Believers will continue to struggle with sins, even consistently so, but the warning is that if we don’t care, we may need to check our hearts.
Stuff you should see:
Main point: Once and for all, Jesus has done away with our sins through his sacrifice on the cross. Therefore, we can have confidence to draw near and hope to endure.
ACTS Prayer (Pray through your pen and conversation)
Adoration: Praise the Father for His attributes and actions
Confession: Confess your sinfulness and acknowledge your sins
Thanksgiving: Thank Jesus for his Salvation (past, present, future)
Supplication: Ask the Spirit to transform you in particular ways
Questions for Application:
Verse 18 says, “there is no longer any offering for sin.” In other words, there is nothing left for you to do to atone for your sins and the mistakes that you have made. Do you believe this? Are there ways you try to make up for the things you have done in your life?
In light of God’s faithfulness, verse 24 says, “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” How can you do this this week? What are some ways you can encourage others to “love and good works.”?
Verse 26 is a powerful warning to not ignore our sin. Is there an area of your life you have grown cold to? God says he will “remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” (v. 17) There is no sin that Jesus’ blood cannot atone for.
